FAQ

When should I book my newborn session?
The best time to reserve your newborn session is during your second trimester or as soon as baby arrives. Since babies rarely arrive on their due date, you will book your session for one week after your due date to hold your baby's spot in our schedule, and then you will email us when baby arrives to either keep or change your session.
When is the best time to photograph my baby?
For posed newborn portraits, I recommend scheduling your session within the first 1–14 days after birth. During this stage, babies tend to sleep more deeply and curl naturally into those sweet, cozy poses everyone loves. If your baby is older, don't worry! Beautiful newborn images can still be created up to 8 weeks old, and I'll tailor the session to your baby's comfort and developmental stage.
What's the difference between a hospital, in-home, and studio newborn session?
Hospital Sessions capture the very beginning. These are documentary-style images that preserve those first hours together, the tiny hospital bracelet, first cuddles, wrinkly toes, and all the beautiful, emotional moments you'll never want to forget.
Studio Newborn Sessions are carefully styled and timeless. My studio is stocked with wraps, blankets, headbands, bonnets, and props, creating classic portraits with soft lighting and beautiful posing. In a studio session, baby's are posed by the photographer in table poses and in props. It's the perfect choice if you love polished, heirloom-quality images.
In-Home Lifestyle Sessions focus on connection and are candid shots where parents hold baby. They take place in the comfort of your home and showcase your family naturally interacting with your newest addition in the nursery, on the couch, or wherever your favorite memories are being made.
No matter which session you choose, the focus is always the same, capturing your baby's story in a meaningful and authentic way.
Will my photos be kept private?
Yes. Your privacy is always respected. Your images will never be shared, published, or used for marketing without your written permission and galleries are password protected. All images are permanately deleted after 30 days and your photographer edits all photos herself. Whether you choose to keep your photographs completely private or allow me to share a few favorites, the decision is entirely yours.
Can parents and siblings be included?
Absolutely! In fact, I encourage it. Your newest family member is only part of the story, and I love capturing the love between parents, siblings, and baby. We also will send you tips on how to get those shots with siblings. These portraits often become some of the most treasured images from your session. I'll provide wardrobe guidance beforehand so everyone photographs beautifully together.
What if my baby cries or won't sleep?
Babies lead the session, and that's exactly how it should be. We will send you our tips before your session and take as many breaks as baby needs during the session. There's never any rush. With patience and experience, we'll work at your baby's pace to create beautiful images while keeping them safe, comfortable, and happy.
Is my baby's safety your top priority?
Yes! Our photographers are fully immunized including FLU and TDAP and have completed posing and safety newborn courses. Your photographer has an assistant whose job is to watch your baby at all times during the session. Your baby's comfort and safety come before every photograph. Every pose is done gently and only if your baby is comfortable. We never force a pose, and many images that appear complex are actually created through photoshop, safe techniques and careful support. With years of experience photographing hundreds of newborns, you can relax knowing your little one is in caring, capable hands.
